This weekend Max and I got the lights converted and functional!  I am using 2 1 watt cool white LEDs available from Adafruit.  They are wired in series on a 6v circuit from a BEC (which takes battery input and gives a regulated 6v output).  The switch is also from Adafruit.

The setup puts out an amazing amount of light.. More than enough to actually drive in the dark!
